Tripura State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB)

 

It is a Statutory Body. It implements the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act 1974. The Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act 1981, Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules 2000, Municipal Solid Waste (Management & Handling) Rules -2000, Bio-Medical Waste (Management & Handling) Rules 1998 and Plastic Waste (Management & Handling) Rules 2011.

TSPCB monitors water quality on regular basis. It is also developing a data base in respect of water bodies, lakes, rivers and ground water of the state. It also works for monitoring of air quality and noise pollution. TSPCB issues consent to establish to operate industrial units and authorization to Health care facilities up to small pathological laboratories. It also runs ENVIS (Environment Information Service) Centre with fund of MoEF. In respect of Municipal Solid Waste, government has recently asked all the Nagar Panchayats in the State to take steps needed for proper Solid Waste Managemen

Tripura State Council for Science & Technology (TSCST)(link is external)

 

TSCST promotes Science and Technology activities among the common people specially students in Tripura to generate the spirit of scientific temper among the students and youths. The main programs implemented by TSCST are: Science Fair , Science Seminar, Science Drama Competition, Children Science Congress, Mathematics Olympiad, Formation of Science Club and Science Forum etc.

Directorate of Bio-Technology (DBT)(link is external)

 

DBT through Biotechnological intervention works to improve management of bio-resources for sustainable socio-economic development. With this in view, DBT works for training of farmers for improvement in nursery management and propagation technique of crops. Technical guidance given to the farmers for Fruits preservation and processing, integrated pest management, organic farming and also for developing forward linkage for marketing of bio Agri / Horti produces of village farmers.

Tripura Bio-Technology Council (TBC)

 

TBC also works to improve management of bio- resources of Tripura through Biotech intervention for sustainable socio-economic development of farmers. The main activities of TBC are setting up of nursery of high- tech Sabri banana and production of quality planting materials through improved tissue culture cultivation of nutritional and medicinal plants and its utilization through farmers. Assisting children of schools in respect of development of bio-science by setting up of DNA (DBT’s Natural Resources Awareness) Club.

Tripura Space Application Centre (TSAC)(link is external)

 

TSAC it is a wing of TSCST. It is the State Nodal Centre for all Remote Sensing & GIS (Geographic Information System). With this object TSAC is working to develop spatial data warehouse to strengthen the planning process for integrated scientific management of different Departments of the State.. TSAC is also working on ground water prospect and quality mapping, digital fertility mapping of Tripura, Study of River basin , Mapping of School in Tripura etc.

Sukanta Academy (SA)(link is external)

 

SA it is a Centre for Science, Arts and Culture to establish and to develop scientific temper and interest among children/ students of the state. Sukanta Academy has developed Galleries like Popular Science Gallery, Fun Science Gallery, Forest Gallery, Space Science, Solar Garden, Energy Park, Space Craft simulator etc. New inclusion were 3D show, Wealth of Tripura Gallery, Inset Corner etc. It has a small wings for Arts and Culture
